Sara
Sara came from Chicago this past weekend to visit us. It was so great to have her out here. Mike and I took her to the Jolly Roger for her birthday dinner on Thursday. On Friday, Sara and I did a little shopping at Pike Place, went to the Olympic Sculpture Park (amazing - we have photos but Mike hasn't downloaded them yet), and checked out Gasworks Park. We had dinner with Steve and Mike at El Chupacabra. We then met Johanna and her friends and my friend Justin from work at a bar up on Phinney Ridge. The night ended at the Tin Hat. Sara and I went to Theo Chocolates for their amazing factory tour on Saturday morning. All in all it was a relaxing weekend. I think Sara enjoyed the city and we can't wait for her to come back again.

2nd place
We got second place in our Drinks on the Links league. Everyone had a strong showing on Wednesday bringing us up from 4th to 2nd place! We lost to the 1st place team be one stroke! The organizers gave everyone on our team a free beer glass since we were so close.

mini golf
Here are some pictures from week 4 of Drinks on the Links. Before the night began we were in 4th place out of 20 teams - not too shabby. Lisa and Jay were subs for Brianne and Tim. Our team theme was bandanas - Mike did not participate. He's just lucky he's one of our better golfers!

hot, hot, hot
This past weekend was really hot in Seattle! We enjoyed the great weather by going to Discovery Park on Saturday, dinner and beer at the Jolly Roger, and canoeing with Steve Saturday night on Green Lake.

visitors
My parents came out for a visit over Memorial Day. After an unexpected flight cancellation, they arrived a day late, but plus one person! They surprised us by bringing Rachel too! We had such a great weekend that was jam packed with stuff to do and places to eat. Here are some of the highlights.
On Saturday we toured a chocolate factory in Fremont. Theo Chocolates is a fair trade, organic chocolate maker. We ate so much chocolate during the tour. I would recommend this to anyone who is in Seattle!
excited for the tour
mmmmm . . . peanut butter and jelly
No trip to Fremont is complete without visiting the troll.
Mom, Dad & the troll
We went to Snoqualmie Falls next. It was very beautiful, but kind of touristy. I guess one of the most visited places in WA should be touristy. Now we can say we've been there.

It rained on Sunday. We spent the morning at the Ballard Locks. And went on the Underground Tour in the afternoon. Then a quick stop at the original Starbucks at Pike Place.

Monday was spent all around the city. I'm sure the highlight of my Dad's trip was seeing the Northwestern from "Deadliest Catch" in dry dock in Ballard.

On Tuesday we went to Mt. Rainier. This was my Mom's favorite part of the trip. We drove up to Paradise and then stopped at spots on our way down to do some hiking. We enjoyed a late dinner at Volterra and dessert at Cupcake Royale for their last night in town.

Mike's finally in a picture!
